Garuda Purana
Regional News: The Garuda Purana begins its description of Pralaya (cosmic dissolution) with a collapse in morality. When lies replace truth, and selfishness rules over virtue, it's the first sign that Kali Yuga is ending. Respect for elders vanishes, children rebel, and spiritual gurus become corrupt. The sacred rituals turn into social shows, and faith becomes profit-driven. Society begins to rot from within, and Dharma is laughed at.
Uncontrolled desires and lust are cited as the second sign. When humans begin to live only for pleasure—ignoring family, duty, and restraint—destruction speeds up. Crimes against women rise. Relationships lose purity. Marriages become transactional. According to the Purana, when lust rules kings and monks alike, that age is cursed.
Garuda Purana warns that nature itself will revolt. Oceans will rise unnaturally. Untimely rain, earthquakes, and famines will become common. The balance between the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, space—will be lost. These events won't be mere climate change, but the earth purging itself.
As Kali Yuga nears its end, frauds in the name of god will multiply. Fake gurus, religious traders, and self-proclaimed avatars will rise in numbers. Instead of spreading wisdom, they’ll preach division. The Purana cautions: when holy men seek luxury, and temples become banks, truth disappears.
According to the text, global conflict is a major sign of Pralaya. Wars over land, faith, and pride will grow. Nations will fight without reason, and civilians will pay the price. Religion will be used as a weapon. Peace treaties will crumble overnight. Garuda Purana states that when the youth forget their roots and blindly imitate the West, the soul of a civilization is lost. When sons stop honoring fathers, and daughters are sold for money, the society collapses from within. This inner decay signals the end.
Finally, when the few remaining wise ones choose silence over struggle, it's the last nail. The Purana says the world ends not with a roar but a whisper of ignored wisdom. When truth becomes inconvenient, destruction follows without warning.
